“Echoes from the Perfume River” is the first large-scale and most complex artistic program which will be performed on a stage on a submerged stage on the Perfume River.
The spectacle is like a watercolor painting which depicts Hue’s watery landscapes and its familiar rural images like the corner of a small fishing village, a banyan-tree, a water well and the village hall’s yard attached to the daily life and fishing activities of local people. It is the story about the life cycle of the people living on the Perfume River, from the time they fall in love, get married, give birth to children until the children grow up, follow their previous generations to work on the river. The cycle repeats endlessly like the River’s flow, which embraces, protects, develops, preserves and keeps Hue in its heart.
“Echoes from the Perfume River” is simple but profound, silky and truthful, natural and impressive going into the depths of Hue’s spirit. It portrays the overflowing reminiscence in the heart of Hue people about a land full of love and quintessence along with its inherent characteristics of tranquility and the slow pace of life.
“Echoes from the Perfume River” is dedicated to Hue and to those who love Hue – a land of honour, gratitude and proudness. In particular, this program will attract the participation of many Hue inhabitants with their emotional lives and daily activities.
The program is expected to be televised live at 20:05 on Sunday, April 29, 2018 on VTC1 and VOVTV.
